Garbage in Garbage out!
What a title! I’ve been thinking a lot about food lately, having been asked the question: “Does diet help with acne?” I know there are people out there that are doing everything wrong in their diet, and yet they’ve never experienced a breakout, so I started asking myself, “what part does DNA play when it comes to acne?” So let’s ask ourselves a few questions. I know that at the age of 53, I should be over this, but knowing that my Sebaceous Glands are hyper sensitive, I STILL get the occasional breakout. I can’t be alone in my struggles, can I?
Well what about diet? I once had a Naturopathic Doctor tell me “it’s easier to change someones religion than it is to change their diet”, and I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t sound very promising. Could our diet be the death of us even more than Planes, Trains, and Automobiles could? Talking about Planes, Trains and Automobiles, let’s discuss this idea of ‘Garbage In Garbage Out”.
I spent 10 years of my younger days as an aircraft mechanic, and that’s where I learned about the quality of oil and fuel. What you put in will ultimately make a difference in the life of that machine. Anyone have a Ford? Put cheap gas in a Ford and the engine knocks. You want to keep a Ford for a long time? Only use high test gasoline! If you don’t change the oil faithfully and see what happens. If I drive to McDonald’s for lunch every day, should I expect it to fuel me to live a long HEALTHY life? Does it hurt once in a while? Maybe, maybe not.
That brings me to me and why I’m gluten intolerant, I believe that through my own bad habits, I am the cause of my own problems. You could even say that I am my own worst enemy, and I’ll tell you why in my next Blog.
At age 16 I went to visit some of my relatives in London for the first time. My cousin married a nice young girl from the Isle of Wight, off the coast of England, and she was a vegetarian. So as soon as I got back home from my visit. Guess what I did? Yep, I announced to my family that I was taking meat off my menu, and becoming a vegetarian. Boy everyone was not happy with me and I took criticism for years and years after that. This was 1981 and vegetarian meals on menu’s did not really exist. I take that back, Egg Plant Parmesan and Pasta Pasta Pasta. Lol I became a Pastatarian and was in heaven eating Pasta, Bread, Rice, Potatoes and some vegetables. At the time I didn’t think anything about what I was doing and most people probably don’t. I was enjoying life and eating myself into problem after problem, and oblivious to my diet and why I’m falling apart at a young age. I pray there are other people beside me that have woke up after to many unanswered questions to all their problems. Finally saying I am more important than my taste bubs and satisfying my cravings; which could be the death of me. Remember it’s easier to change your religion than your diet. So how’s your will power by the way?
